South African actor and musician Dean Geyer has a diverse career spanning from acting in a science fiction series to releasing his own studio album. At age 15 he moved from South Africa to Melbourne, Australia to attend a competitive all-boys high school. He quickly realized that his passion was in music and decided against enrolling in college. In 2006, Geyer auditioned and competed in "Australian Idol" and came in third place. Even though he wasn't the initial winner of the reality show, Geyer signed a contract with Sony and released his debut album in 2007 and toured across Australia. He became a young celebrity in Australia and won Fave Hottie at the Nickelodeon Australian Kids' Choice Awards. The musician expanded his career by becoming a regular on the long-running Australian soap opera "Neighbours." His character was very much like his real-life persona, Geyer played a law school dropout who dreamt of becoming a musician. Geyer plunged into American cinema by becoming a wrestler in the action packed professional fighting movie "Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown." He returned to television and found a role in the romantic comedy "Single Ladies" on VH1. His first major American TV role was playing a soldier in the time traveling science fiction series "Terra Nova."
