Accomplished stage performer whose screen appearances, owing to prevailing racial attitudes in Hollywood, were intermittent. Ingram was outstanding in Vincente Minnelli's all-black production, "Cabin in the Sky" (1943) and he was also delightful as the genie in "The Thief of Bagdad" (1940). Not to be confused with silent screen director Rex Ingram.
