While investigating the mysterious deaths of passengers on a commuter train, Peter remains suspicious of Walter; the investigation leads the team to a very powerful man (Peter Weller).

Clark discovers the reason he was sent to Earth after a nightmare foretells a horrible event that's about to befall Smallville, and he visits the cave to seek answers from Jor-El. His biological father tells Clark he must reunite the three crystals immediately or an enormous disaster will devastate the planet that even Clark won't be able to stop or survive. Meanwhile, after finding Lana with Genevieve Teague's dead body, Lex helps the teen escape Smallville then takes shocking action to get one of the crystals away from Lionel. Realizing the elements are connected to Clark, Chloe tries to stop Lex from discovering the truth.

Clark and Chloe discover that Tobias (GREYSTON HOLT), a young man who was blinded during the meteor shower and now has the ability to identify "meteor freaks," is being used by Lex to locate people with special abilities in order to experiment on them. When Lana finds out about Tobias' gift, she fears that he will expose Clark and offers Tobias a cornea transplant in exchange for his silence. However, she is not prepared for Tobias' shocking revelation. Series star MICHAEL ROSENBAUM directed the episode.
