アーネスト・ウィットマン

Ernest Whitman was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Whitman started his acting career landing roles in such films as the Warner Baxter biopic drama "The Prisoner of Shark Island" (1936), the Vivien Leigh hit dramatic adaptation "Gone With the Wind" (1939) and the historical film "Jesse James" (1939) with Tyrone Power. He also appeared in "Congo Maisie" (1940) and "Maryland" (1940). He kept working in film throughout the forties, starring in "The Return of Frank James" (1940) with Henry Fonda, "The Bugle Sounds" (1941) and the western "The Pittsburgh Kid" (1941) with Billy Conn. He also appeared in the Ethel Waters adaptation "Cabin in the Sky" (1943). Nearing the end of his career, he tackled roles in the drama "Stormy Weather" (1943) with Lena Horne, the Jean Gabin drama "The Impostor" (1944) and "Blonde Savage" (1947). He also appeared in "My Brother Talks to Horses" (1947) with Jackie "Butch" Jenkins. Whitman last worked on "Beulah" (ABC, 1950-53). Whitman passed away in August 1954 at the age of 61.
