Mitsu meets Ryota, a patient at the eye clinic where she works and marries him; but she still struggles to forget her first love, Koki Arishima.

Ryota grows increasingly suspicious of Mitsu after she returns home giddy from her unexpected encounter; Mitsu makes plans to see Arishima again.

After Mitsu's mother breaks her leg falling on the stairs, Ryota asks her to stay with him and Mitsu; Mitsu vows to end her affair with Arishima.

With Arishima increasingly unavailable, Mitsu decides to take up ceramics as a new hobby; during class, she encounters someone close to him.

Mitsu feels unnerved by Ryota's unwavering smile; she seizes an opportunity to visit Arishima's home to return a book on behalf of Sato.

Insisting that no one could possibly be better for him than Mitsu, Ryota remains eerily upbeat and tries wearing flashy clothes to catch her eye.
