Though Moyuru Hono (Yuya Yagira) loses his confidence when he meets other students who are more talented than he is, Hono wants to become a manga artist, so he shows his works to the anime club member Yano (Kenji Urai). The anime aficionado ruthlessly rips apart Moyuru's drawing and drive. Later, Moyuru barely manages to explain anime to an old bookstore attendee (Umi Yamano). Moyuru's self-confidence is shattered, until certain a happening changes him.

Though Moyuru Hono (Yuya Yagira) dreams of becoming a manga artist, he is at a deadlock. He gives up on the highly competitive manga industry and switches his focus to animation production. In one of his classes, Moyuru is assigned to produce a commercial. He wants to work on the project solo instead of joining a group and purchases expensive materials, but he is out of ideas. Not only that, women like Tonko Morinaga (Mizuki Yamamoto) and Hiromi Tsuda (Yuina Kuroshida) are all he can think of. Desperate, Moyuru heads to his sanctuary, an anime shop, to look for inspiration.

The superb quality of Hideaki Anno (Ken Yasuda)'s animation crushes Moyuru Hono (Yuya Yagira)'s spirit. Moyuru changes his mind back to becoming a manga artist. Moyuru works on a manga to bring to a publisher in Tokyo. Meanwhile, Anno had chosen to focus on animation and Takami Akai (Tomoya Nakamura) on stop motion movies. Hiroyuki Yamaga (Murotsuyoshi) is convinced that these two highly driven students will secure their own future. As the summer vacation comes to an end, Moyuru heads to Tokyo with Kishimoto (Yohei Omizu).
