Shaman King is an anime series based on the manga of the same name written by Hiroyuki Takei. The series is directed by Seiji Mizushima and co-produced by TV Tokyo, NAS, and Xebec. At an early stage of anime production, Takei himself helped the anime's staff. However, he soon left the staff due to his time limitations as he was working on the manga.

On a night with full moon Manta hears a voice coming from the graveyard. He sees a strange boy who looks happy surrounded by ghosts. The next day, nobody in his class believes Manta's story.
