Kagerouta is a young ninja who is entrusted with various missions. When he was a child, his father mysteriously disappeared. During a mission, Kagerouta comes across a cat that vaguely resembles his father. He adopts the cat as his own and begins asking it to transform back into a human. The cat's response: a simple "meow". Kagerouta decides to keep the cat anyway and names it Kinji.
