Yamada Bun, a food-loving art major, and her talking plushy, Hokusai, meet new friends in Tokyo through Bun's simple yet ingenious recipes.

Yamada Bun, a creative university student, lives alone with her doll, Hokusai. When Bun creates mayonnaise on the spot to enrich her otherwise meager sandwich, Arikawa Jun calls her a magician and exchanges her bread heels with Bun.

Bun, being an art major, sketches a self-portrait but begins seeing meat balls on the canvas due to hunger. When Bun returns with ingredients to make meat balls, she is confronted by a mysterious boy in her room.

Bun prepares a dish early in the morning to cheer herself up after getting told off by her professor. Kandagawa Eitaro, a high school teacher, becomes a model for Bun's sketch by chance and falls in love with her.

After nodding off during class, Bun is tasked with sketching pumpkins, which she decides to cook instead. While simultaneously preparing the pumpkins and some honey roasted peanuts for Jun, Bun makes a mistake and decides to change the menu.

After having an argument with her mother regarding her lifestyle, Bun decides to make seasonal egg dishes to calm herself down. When Nagi's prank results in her breaking all the eggs, Bun angrily tells him to come back with new eggs by nightfall.

Episode 6
After being told that she might have to repeat a year, Bun searches the neighborhood for inspiration but returns home without success. At home, Bun discovers an earthenware pot in a package that her mother sent and decides to cook miso udon.
