Ōoku

During the Edo period, the number of men decreased due to a strange epidemic called 'Akazurahoso (smallpox)', with which only young men were infected. As a result, boys are raised as rare breed of person, girls replacing boys in the labor force, all family businesses taken over from woman to woman and the shogun ruling Japan is also taken over by a woman. As if to prove the shogun's prestige, Ooku (the inner chambers) keeps precious men around and creates a world of men known as the 3,000 beautiful men.
