A Wednesday
"A Wednesday" is a National Award Winner for ‘Best Debut Film of A Director’, accredited to Neeraj Pandey, and even awarded IIFA & Screen Awards. It tells the story of certain events that unfold on a particular Wednesday in the city of Mumbai. These events do not exist on any records but deeply affect the lives of those involved. The Mumbai Police Commissioner, Prakash Rathod (Anupam Kher) is about to retire the next day and he recalls the toughest case he had to deal with in his career. He gets a call from an anonymous caller (Naseeruddin Shah) on a Wednesday demanding the release of four militants in lieu of information on bombs that he has planted in various parts of the city. At first, Prakash suspects it to be a prank call but his doubts are dispelled once he actually finds a bomb planted in the police station right opposite the Police Headquarters. He gets a team of his best men together and taps all his resources to track down the man. Ultimately, Prakash gives in to the caller's demand and tasks two of his best men, Arif (Jimmy Shergill) and Jai (Aamir Bashir) with handing over the militants as demanded by the caller, culminating into dramatic thriller.
