Roger Craig Smith

Born in Orange County California, Smith originally aspired to be a screenwriter or standup comedian. After both a former teacher and a judge at the Aspen Comedy Festival at the Improv appeared unmoved by his standup but encouraged by his talent for voices, he began attending classes and largely got his start voicing video games. One of his earliest roles was for the game "Resident Evil Code: Veronica" (2000) while his first recurring role in a television series was voicing various characters for "Naruto." Working steadily doing voices for numerous films, video games and television shows, Smith is particularly well-known in the video game world for his role as Chris Redfield in multiple incarnations of "Resident Evil" and other games including "Resident Evil Outbreak: File #2" (2004) and "Resident Evil 5" (2009). Smith also voices Ezio Auditore Da Firenze in the "Assassin's Creed" series of games beginning with "Assassin's Creed 2" (2009). On television, he has assumed such iconic roles as Captain Marvel on "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" (Disney XD, 2010-13) and Captain America on "Marvel's Avengers Assemble" (Disney XD, 2013-). While he says no one has ever copped to recognizing his voice when he's out of the studio, Smith's versatility continues to serve him well. He has also worked as an announcer on the television series "House Crashers" (DIY Network, 2009-), "Kitchen Crashers" (DIY Network, 2011-2012) and "Bath Crashers" (DIY Network, 2010-), and in "Wreck-It Ralph," he took his voice for the beloved video game character Sonic the Hedgehog to the big screen. Smith also worked on the Disney film "Planes," originally slated for direct-to-video but given a theatrical release on completion due to strength of its animation.
