When a series of murders terrorize the town of Yun Yin, the residents turn to a grand River God ceremony seeking peace. Physician Tao Ran (Ming Liang) is assigned to investigate the serial killings, working closely with his apprentice. During his probe, he unexpectedly saves Hua Zhi (Huang Ri Ying), a small fox who witnessed one of the murders. Hua Zhi introduces Tao Ran to a skilled sorcerer, and helps him trace clues to an enigmatic embroidery workshop. As they piece together the mystery, Tao Ran and his unlikely allies race against time to identify the killer before another victim falls.
