The Unwritten Law is a 1985 Hong Kong trial drama film directed by written, produced and directed by Ng See-yuen and starring Andy Lau and Deanie Ip. The film was a critical and commercial success and was followed by two sequels, The Truth and The Truth Final Episode. Because the film and its subsequent two sequels has displayed a touching mother and son love, Deanie Ip earned the nickname "Andy Lau's mother".
