Sonoko enters into an arranged marriage with Amamiya setup by her parents. The couple tries to have a child, but they are not in love. Sonoko moves to Kyoto due to her husband's work and lives in a boarding house. There, she meets Ochi. Ochi is her husband's superior at work. Sonoko falls in love for the first time.
