Nancy

Korean-American singer Nancy Jewel McDonie, known professionally as Nancy, was born in Daegu, South Korea. Her father, a colonel in the US Army, met her mother while stationed in Korea. The two married and Nancy grew up between Columbus, Ohio and Korea as her parents wanted her to belong comfortably to both cultures. In 2011, she joined a hip-hop troupe called The Cutie Pies and auditioned for "Korea's Got Talent" (tvN, 2011-12). She then attended Hanlim Multi Art School in Korea while participating in reality shows. Her big break came winning the reality competition "Finding Momoland" (Mnet, 2016). With the newly formed girl group Momoland, Nancy released their debut EP "Welcome to Momoland" (2016). Days later Nancy announced that she was joining an additional group called Sunny Girls and released a song titled "Taxi" (2016). In 2018 she began hosting a music show "The Power of K" (Docomo TV, 2016), released in Korea and Japan. Meanwhile, Momoland's third EP, "Great!" (2018), featured their most successful single, "Bboom Bboom". Nancy made a cameo appearance as an idol trainee on the show, "Dae Jang Geum Is Watching" (MBC TV, 2018-19).
