A loser teacher, Haruaki Abe, starts his new position at a school filled with youkai called Hyakki Academy; he then goes to visit a shut-in zashikiwarashi named Beniko so everyone can be included in the class picture.

Hyakki Academy is in a panic because of the upcoming physical exams; Haruaki has trouble doing the cyclops Rensuke's eye exam and getting the daidarabocchi Oota's height.

Haruaki is invited to observe Miki's youkai studies class, but things immediately get hectic when Miki decides to demonstrate his powers by having a little bit of sake.

Youkai TV wants to do an up-close-and-personal interview with Haruaki; he has trouble during an extracurricular lesson and his students try to make him look good but it fails.

Haruaki goes back to his family home, but then a few of the students decide to visit him there; the students meet Haruaki's older brother, Amaaki, who seems to dislike youkai.
