Lil Uzi Vert

Hip hop artist Lil Uzi Vert was born Symere Woods, in Philadelphia, Penn. After releasing a couple of mixtapes and garnering some local praise in his hometown, he first began to gain wider success when he came to the attention of producer and DJ Don Cannon, who heard one of his songs on the radio. Shortly thereafter, he signed a record deal with Cannon's label Generation Now as well as with Atlantic Records, and in 2015 he was featured on Carnage's single "WDYW." His third mixtape, "Luv Is Rage," was released in December 2015. Produced by Cannon and others, it also featured artistic contributions from Wiz Khalifa and Young Thug. His fourth mixtape, "Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World," was released in April 2016 and was again produced by Cannon. His fifth mixtape, "The Perfect Luv Tape" debuted in July 2016 and featured Future on the song "Seven Million." From there, Uzi went on to be a featured artist on the Migos single "Bad and Boujee" in October 2016. By January 2017, the song hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and Uzi followed this with his own single, "XO TOUR Llif 3," which peaked at No. 7 on the Hot 100 chart. In August 2017, he went on to release his long-awaited debut studio album. Entitled "Luv Is Rage 2," it featured "XO TOUR Llif 3" as its lead single, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. Uzi has garnered praise from such music magazines as "Complex" and "Spin," and has been nominated for several Billboard Music Awards. He also won the MTV Video Music Award in the Song of the Summer category for "XO TOUR Llif 3," and has been nominated for two 2018 Grammy Awards in the categories of Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance.
