The Tipton is holding a Health and Fitness week. Cody encourages Chef Paolo to cook more healthily, while Zack's mother tries to get him to amend his eating habits and cut down on sugar.

Zack and Cody try to nurse their mum, who has flu, but prove pretty useless at it. Competition is fierce for Employee of the Month when Moseby offers a big prize.

The boys want some independence now they are getting older. Mum lets them go to the cinema alone, but, when they see a horror film instead of the family one Mum agreed to, Zack has nightmares.

A Japanese singer is in town to entertain a delegation at the hotel. Zack and Cody take her to International Day at school, but she gets lost so they have to sing instead of her.

Cody gets the job as editor of the school newspaper and appoints Zack as agony aunt. He proves very popular until he abuses his role by advising a girl he likes to go out with him.

Cody is practising for the spelling bee that's to be held in the hotel, while Zack's scrounging money to play in the arcade. Cody finds himself competing against someone who's lent Zack money.
