Limelight
There was a time when Calvero was a famous Music Hall star, a great comedian and one of the finest artists. Now, he is a washedup old man, as good as forgotten by his former crowd. When he saves a fellow artist – a young ballerina – from suicide, and helps her back to health and regains her self-esteem, he once again finds meaning in the show-business. Chaplin intimately and poignantly explores the twilight years of glory. Himself being in his 60’s, he asks and answers what it means to be forgotten, to despair, and how to gather the strength to overcome. "Limelight" won the Oscar for Best Music and was nominated for two BAFTAs, of which it won one.
