Anne Neyland

Best known for her role in the hugely popular Elvis Presley film "Jailhouse Rock" (1957), Anne Neyland was born in Gulfport, Mississippi. After the family relocated to Texas while Neyland was still a young child, the bright-eyed blond eventually took an interest in beauty pageants, competing in her first one at age 16. She would find success in the pageant circuit, eventually winning the title of "Miss Texas" before embarking on a modeling career. However, Neyland eventually tired of posing for the cameras and set her sights on acting for them instead. She moved from Dallas to Hollywood, California, where she made her film debut as an uncredited extra in the musical "Singin' in the Rain" (1952). It would be some time before Neyland landed her big break, but when she was cast in "Jailhouse Rock" in 1957, her fame instantly skyrocketed. Neyland also briefly dated Presley during the filming, landing her name in the celebrity gossip columns as well. She would go on to co-star in "Hidden Fear" (1957) and "Motorcycle Gang" (1957) later that same year. Neyland made a number of appearances on popular TV series in the years to come, guest starring on "The Texan" (CBS, 1958-1960) and "Sea Hunt" (CBS, 1958-1961) in 1959. Her last appearance was an uncredited cameo in the heist movie "Ocean's 11" (1960). Neyland passed away in 2019. She was 84 years old.
