Diplomat Alex is given a tricky task: he is supposed to claim a treasure for Spain that the US adventurer Frank Wild has recovered from the ocean.
In 1804, the Spanish frigate La Fortuna was attacked by British warships. In the present, Alex and Lucia have seven days to verify the name of the shipwreck.
Wild wants to polish up his image with a TV appearance by his daughter. The Spanish coast guard intercepts Wild's research ship, which leads to a diplomatic crisis.
At the beginning of the trial, Jonas can score points against Wild's lawyer. The successful start brings Lucia and Alex closer together privately. Wild tries to gain the sympathy of the victims' descendants.
In order to avoid financial ruin, Wild exhausts all legal means in the fight for the treasure. Alex flies to the USA to personally organise the repatriation of the treasure.
Because of the enormous value of the treasure, Alex has problems finding a shipping company in Atlanta. With another ruse, Wild wants to stop the removal of the gold coins at the last minute.
