Lawyer Joanna Chylka gets a phone call in the middle of the night from an old friend, Angelika Szelzyngier. Angelika's three-year-old daughter Nikola is missing, and the police suspect the parents.

More evidence points at Dawid. It turns out that on the night of the disappearance, the alarm in the Szlezyngiers' house was turned on very early. Joanna and Zordon's working relationship is fragile.

The Szlezyngiers sit on the accused bench at the trial. After a quarrel, Joanna assures Angelika that her clients' innocence doesn't matter to her. A testimoy supports the prosecutor's theory that the parents are to blame.
