Bill Dow

Despite his long and varied television career, Bill Dow remains best known for playing Dr. Bill Lee in the sci-fi series "Stargate SG-1" and its various spinoffs. Lee was the resident techie of the show, on hand to reverse-engineer alien technology and invent his own gadgets to thwart extraterrestrial threats. As Lee, Dow had a long run, with appearances on "Stargate: Atlantis" and "SGU Stargate Universe" into the late 2000s. Other notable recurring roles for Dow include a part as the mayor of Vancouver in the crime series "Da Vinci's Inquest" and another scientist (this time with a flare for the paranormal) in the conspiracy-laden "The X-Files." His work on the silver screen has been more sporadic, with bit parts in "This Boy's Life," based on the book by Tobias Wolff, and the Brad Pitt melodrama "Legends of the Fall." When not appearing onscreen, Dow has worked extensively in the Canadian theater, directing numerous productions for the Vancouver Playhouse, as well as acting in David Mamet's sexual-harassment house-of-mirrors "Oleanna."
