Ridge Canipe

Ridge Canipe is a young actor with an impressive child acting resume, particularly through his roles as the boyhood Johnny Cash in the biopic "Walk the Line," and as Toby Whitewood, the first-baseman and would-be spokesman for the reboot of the "Bad News Bears," both from 2005, and both of which earned Canipe Young Artist Awards (the former an individual award, the latter for ensemble). He was 11 then, but his acting career began way back at five, growing up in Southern California. Canipe made his screen debut in 2003 on an episode of the short-lived gambling comedy "Lucky," and since then he's had recurring parts on "Desperate Housewives," where he played the paperboy for Wisteria Lane, and on the fantasy horror "Supernatural," as the young version of main character Dean Winchester, all between 2005 and 2007. One of Canipe's biggest roles as a youth was in the Hallmark Hall of Fame TV movie, "Pictures of Hollis Woods," in which he had a prominent supporting role as a member of the Regan clan, the temporary foster care providers of the title character. Canipe's film specialty, meanwhile, is playing younger versions of main characters, and such was the case again in the 2007 biographical comedy "Music Within," and in the 2009 comedy "Tom Cool," as the eight-year-old version of Tom. Off set, Canipe and fellow young actor and friend Hailey Anne Nelson put together a vegan cookbook for kids.
