Mademoiselle Fifi

Simone Simon stars as a beautiful but lowly Frenchwoman who teaches her betters how to fight for their country in this adaptation of Guy De Maupassant's story Mademoiselle Fifi. In a French town occupied by the Prussians during the Franco-Prussian War, a brutal Prussian officer--nicknamed Fifi because of his cruelly handsome looks--terrorizes the villagers. When he demands a girl to satisfy him sexually, spineless local aristocrats send Elizabeth (Simon), a poor laundress. But her response to her plight inspires the people of the village to fight their Prussian occupiers.
