Party Girl

Nineties indie queen Parker Posey is at her effortlessly cool best in this irresistible comedy, a time capsule of the era’s Manhattan club scene. She stars as Mary, a hard-partying downtown scenester who, when she’s arrested for throwing an illegal rave, must take a job as a librarian in order to pay back her bail. Can the devil-may-care Mary conquer the Dewey decimal system while also finding love with a hunky food-cart vendor (Omar Townsend)? Posey’s scene-stealing vintage fashions and a soundtrack by quintessential club staples like Tom Tom Club, Deee-Lite, and Brooklyn Funk Essentials add flavor to this Gen X classic from director Daisy von Scherler Mayer.
