Bilal Live at Moods

ilal is an artist who defies categorization. Though linked to nu-soul and hip-hop through collaborations with Common and Guru, the singer always chooses innovation. His 2015 album, In Another Life, proved his fearless creative range. Live on the Moods stage, Bilal opens his set with "Sirens II," a haunting track at the crossroads of rock and rhythm and blues. Backed by guitarist Randall Runyon, bassist Tone Whitfield, and drummer Joe Blaxx, the band unites over an atmospheric repertoire. From smooth jazz sequences to a striking interpretation of John Coltrane's "Naima," the group moves effortlessly between styles. Electric and psychedelic, the performance echoes Bilal's early work with the Soulquarians and his collaborations with producer Adrian Younge.
