Andy Hallett

Singer, actor, and Massachusetts native Andy Hallett started out in Hollywood the hard way by working as a runner and a property manager before getting a job as the personal assistant to Kai Cole, the wife of television creator Joss Whedon. One night Whedon, his wife, and a group of their friends saw Hallett perform live at B.B. King's Lounge, and Whedon instantly recognized Hallett potential and talent. Whedon offered him a part in his cult horror tv show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" in 1999 and then wrote Hallett an even larger and more starring role in the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spinoff, "Angel," in 2000. Hallett would play the evil demon Lorne on "Angel" from 2000 until 2004; a part that required him to endure over two and a half hours of makeup preparation each day of filming. He became a fan favorite on the cult smash hit show but fell ill after filming the last episode, in 2005-an infection resulting from dental work, which spread rapidly throughout his bloodstream and severely weakened his heart. Despite suffering from numerous heart problems during the latter half of the 2000s, Hallett briefly returned to acting by voicing Cricket in the animated film "Geppetto's Secret," but was forced to retire from acting after the film and died of congestive heart failure at the age of 33.
