Kevin Guthrie

Classically trained actor Kevin Guthrie found mainstream fame when he joined the extended universe of J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter." A native of Neilston, Scotland, he began acting on stage as a youngster and studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He made his screen debut as a teenager as part of the cast of the TV show "Terri McIntyre" (BBC Three, 2001-03). He continued making periodic television appearance while honing his craft in the theater, including appearing with James McAvoy in a production of "Macbeth." On screen, he starred in the musical comedy "Sunshine on Leith" (2013), and appeared in Robert Carlyle's "Barney Thomson" (2015). He also took the lead in an adaptation of the classic Scottish novel, "Sunset Song" (2015), playing Ewan Tavendale. After a role in the comedy "Whiskey Galore" (2016), Guthrie found the part that would bring him to the attention of an international audience. As Abernathy, the boss of Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol's wizarding sisters, in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" (2016) he joined the lore of the "Harry Potter" universe. He went on to star in the mountain climbing drama "Edie" (2017), and appeared in Christopher Nolan's World War II epic "Dunkirk" (2017). He then joined the cast of the atmospheric horror show "The Terror" (AMC, 2018-) as Harry Paglar, one of the crew members of the trapped HMS Terror. He returned to the wizard world when he reprised his role of Abernathy in the sequel "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" (2018). He next traded in the big budget fare with well-received roles in the indie films "Connect" (2019) and "Boyz in the Wood" (2019).
