Young Donnie Henderson needs new wheels for his Soap Box Derby car, and decides to buy a baby carriage and take the wheels from it. When Beulah sees the baby carriage hidden away in the house, she assumes that Alice Henderson is pregnant, and organizes a surprise baby shower.

The Hendersons need to save some money, so Harry lets the gardener go, and assigns the gardening tasks to the rest of the family. Harry will mow the grass, wife Alice will water the lawn, and son Donnie will weed the garden.
