Nicky Jam

Nicky Jam proved to be one of reggaeton's most prolific artists, collaborating with other Latin music all-stars while simultaneously showing himself to be an extremely popular solo artist. Born Nick Rivera Caminero in Boston, Massachusetts, Jam moved with his family to Barrio Obrero in Puerto Rico when he was ten years old. Jam broke into the reggaeton scene during the 1990s, making a name for himself on the mixtape circuit. His early solo albums like "Haciendo Escante" (2001) established him as a rising star on the reggaeton scene. But it wasn't until "Vida Escante" (2004) that Jam managed to see real mainstream success. His follow-up album, "The Black Carpet" (2007), proved similarly popular, spawning his biggest hit to date, "Gas Pela." Rather than sit back on his laurels, Jam decided to move to Colombia in 2010 to further leverage his success in the Latin world. It proved to be an excellent decision, resulting in a parade of hit singles including Tu Primera Vez, Curiosidad, and Voy a Beber. By 2014 he was charting consistently again, first with the single Travesuras and then in early 2015 with the song "Si Tu No Estas." In 2015, his duet with Enrique Iglesias on El Perdon became his first single to hit number one on the Latin charts, and crossed over to the US pop charts. In 2016, Jam was also poised to break into film with his appearance in the Vin Diesel action film, "xXx: Return of Xander Cage" (2017).
