Front
Based on an original concept album, FRONT is a Punk Rap Opera in which Brighton Rocks in a full frontal clash of youth cultures. Washed up Punk Rocker ‘Mental’ MICKEY lives in a beach hut and funds his addictions the only way he knows how - busking. Trapped in the past, he escapes to a time he had everything - a band, a girlfriend and a future. However when pole-dancing hip-hop MC JADE enters his life, he is finally forced to stop living on dreams and “show some front”. For generations war has been waged on Brighton’s beaches and the most powerful weapon is music. From the Mods and Rockers of the sixties, Punks and second generation Teddy Boys of the seventies, right the way through to the rap battles of the present day. FRONT is based on true events - from the birth of the Brighton Punk scene in The Vault (an 19th century burial crypt turned gig venue) to its demise after being firebombed by a fascist regime, changing the course of Brighton’s musical history forever.
