De troon

Soon after the 1793 French Revolution's regicide of Louis XVII, a patriot rising preceding the 1795 French invasion sees the Orange dynasty's stadholder Willem V flee to England. After his death, heir Willem Frederik hopes to be restored.

After her marriage to Guillot, Anna fails to acclimatise to the Dutch court.

Prince Frederik receives a power of attorney from his father Willem I to put things in order in Brussels. Meanwhile, Guillot is ordered by his father to solve the problem of Anna's jewellery with his brother-in-law Czar Nicholas I of Russia.

Guillot finally manages to succeed his father by playing a trick on him through the press. His son, Peque, marries Sophie van Württenber, an intellectual who gives birth to the fourth Willem in the saga.

Guillot dies from his fall in Tilburg's catholic cathedral, so half-wit son Willem is in line for succession, but refuses until the government convinces him to keep the throne warm at least until his son Wiwil reaches majority.

After Sophie's death, Willem III is forced to look for a new wife to give the family a new heir, since neither Wiebe nor Alexander seem willing to succeed him.
