The origins of Norwegian Black Metal and a group of young men with a flair for publicity, church-burning...and murder. Oslo, 1987: seventeen-year-old Euronymous (Rory Culkin, Signs) is determined to escape his idyllic Scandinavian life and create "True Norwegian black metal" with his band, MAYHEM. Under the pseudonym Euronymous, he's joined by his band-mates Hellhammer, Necrobutcher and a Swedish misfit known as Dead (Jack Kilmer, The Nice Guys).
