Mikkel and Louise are taking their daughters, Sille and Ella, on a well-deserved all-inclusive holiday to a Spanish island. Beneath the palm trees, with the Atlantic Ocean on the horizon, a week of peace and family time awaits. But their peaceful getaway takes a dark turn when refugee boats begin washing up on the beach. One evening, the couple accidentally hit an Afghan refugee with their car. Shocked, they try to help, but when the man later seeks them out at the hotel, their moral convictions are put to the test. Fear, guilt, and compassion collide, and Mikkel and Louise must ask themselves what it truly means to be a good person.
