Josh Herdman

English actor Josh Herdman enjoyed relative fame as the thuggish Gregory Goyle in the "Harry Potter" film series before launching a second career as a mixed martial arts fighter in 2016. Born Joshua Colin Mintone Herdman in Middlesex, England he was the youngest of four sons by athlete turned actor Martin Herdman and his wife, Jessica. He decided to follow in his father's footsteps and try his hand at acting at an early age; after securing an agent, he made his film debut in "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone" (2001), playing Gregory Goyle, the brutish henchman to Tom Felton's Draco Malfoy, the chief juvenile antagonist in the series. Herdman would reprise the role in all seven subsequent "Harry Potter" sequels, while also logging occasional appearances in other features, most notably the bizarre cult comedy "Thunderpants" (2002) opposite fellow "Potter" alum Rupert Grint, and television series. When the "Potter" franchise ran its course, Herdman continued to act while also nurturing an interest in martial arts. After training for five years in jujitsu, Herdman delved into the world of mixed martial arts, and won his first match against Janusz Walachowski in April 2016.
