Born and raised in Bristol, England, Middleton started acting at a very young age. She appeared in numerous school plays while attending grammar school in Bristol, and eventually went on to study acting at London's Arts Educational School. She nabbed her very first film role in 2009 in the British horror film "Tormented" (2009), and went on to appear in two more British films the following year, "Skeletons" (2010) and "Chatroom" (2010). With her acting career on the rise, Middleton soon began making a name for herself on British TV. Beginning in the early 2010s Middleton nabbed recurring roles on the English television shows "Inspector Lewis" (ITV, 2006-2015) and "Spies of Warsaw" (BBC, 2013), as well as a one-off part on the widely-acclaimed British science-fiction anthology series "Black Mirror" (Channel 4/Netflix, 2011-). Then in 2014 Middleton appeared in a supporting role in the Oscar-winning historical drama "The Imitation Game," about the life of the legendary English mathematician Alan Turing. The following year Middleton appeared in the science-fiction film, "Jupiter Ascending," as well as the BBC series "Dickensian." 2015 was also the year she landed her breakout role as Riley Blue on the Netflix science-fiction series "Sense8." In addition to appearing on "Sense8," Middleton also played a recurring character on the BBC mini-series "War & Peace" (2015). In May 2017 the second season of "Sense8" premiered on Netflix, with Middleton reprising her role as Riley Blue.
