Ukweli Roach

A talented dancer and choreographer, Ukweli Roach found a second avenue of fame as a dramatic actor on television, playing intelligent, professional young men in series like "The Royals" (E!, 2015-) and "Blindspot" (NBC, 2015-). Born in Derbyshire, England, his first love was dance, which he began studying at the age of ten. After years of training, he began his professional career in his teens as a dancer for Mariah Carey. While performing with singers and musicians like Kylie Minogue, Roach also co-founded the BirdGang Dance Company, and participated in numerous international dance competitions. During this period, Roach also began to pursue an interest in acting, and after earning a degree from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2009, launched his screen career the following year as Tybalt in a filmed production of "Romeo and Juliet" at the Globe Theatre in England. Though many of his subsequent roles in projects like "StreetDance 3D" (2010) and "One Day" (2011) drew on his dance experience, he soon found his footing in dramatic parts: he played an apprentice angel and legal aide in the ITV drama "Eternal Law" (2012) and a young father-to-be in the Sky1 comedy "Starlings" (2012-2013). American audiences got their first glimpse of Roach in the sudsy E! drama "The Royals" (2015-), for which he played bodyguard and advisor to William Moseley's libertine English prince. That same year, he joined the cast of NBC's blockbuster action-drama "Blindspot," playing a psychologist who aids Jamie Alexander's amnesiac Jane Doe in retrieving her memories.
