After training with SEAL members in the United States, Carl Hamilton goes to work for the CIA in Sweden on a secret mission.

Hamilton begins his work on Säpo and becomes acquainted with Birger, who helps him discover that Norling has been hiding secret information.

Kristin and Hamilton go to Hamburg to collaborate with the German intelligence service BND in the pursuit of the terrorists who have been traced to the city.

Hamilton and Kristin arrive in Hamburg to help the BND in their search for the terrorists; Astrid investigates Elena's death; DG learns that Hamilton is a double agent working for the CIA; Pence convinces Gripenberg to pay up.

Hamilton refuses to kill Kristin after saving her from the warehouse in flames.

Hamilton overthrows Haig's henchmen, but she manages to escape.
