As a Belgian psychiatrist tends to a mysterious and traumatised girl wandering in the remote border region between the Netherlands and Flanders, Dutch detective Tara Dessen investigates a shooting on an abandoned yacht.

Bert and Tara grow closer in the face of danger. Bert is increasingly gaining the trust of his patient Afi, while more information about her recent past turns up.

Tara and Bert struggle to get to the depths of the conspiracy as they hunt for the shady `Admiral' who leads the traffickers. However, they seem to encounter resistance at every turn.

Afi has revealed her secret, which worries Tara and Bert. Meanwhile, a picture emerges of Afi and Shirin's similar pasts, and chaos ensues among the traffickers as one of their own turns traitor.

While Bert is hauled over the coals by the police for misconduct, tension mounts in the gang as rivalry develops over who will become the new leader.

Bert is on the run and an arrest warrant is out on him, while for Tara, it feels like history is repeating itself as every action she takes seems to cause more tragedy.
