When a chance encounter brings 18-year-old Kaya into Emily's life, it seems that fate may have brought them together. From the other side of town, Kaya is determined to make a life for herself. In the luxurious interior of Emily's Range Rover, she quickly starts to get a taste for how the other half live.

The High Life

Three months have passed. Kaya is living with Dan and Emily and is enjoying her new lifestyle. But James has his reservations about this arrangement. He is concerned that Kaya is being exploited and has questions about how much Dan and Emily really know about her past. Dan is preparing for a public consultation regarding his latest property development, the New East End. His lawyer, Souter, knows a project this ambitious could make or break the company, so he wants Dan's full attention.

Prom

It has been weeks since Dan learned the truth about Kaya's past, and he is tormented by the dilemma of whether to tell Emily. She and Kaya have built a close friendship, and Emily is finally allowing herself to believe that there will be a baby at the end of all this. If Dan tells Emily the truth, it will destroy her, but he also knows that he can't have a girl like Kaya in his life. Meanwhile, local journalist Eleanor has found someone from Kaya's past, and they are ready to talk.

Still reeling from the events at the prom, Emily makes a shocking discovery. A face from Kaya's past reappears, but can she trust them, especially now she's £50,000 richer?

Alone and betrayed by all those closest to her, Kaya becomes increasingly reliant on Siobhan. Devastated that Kaya has revoked their rights to visit the baby, Emily regrets how bitter their relationship has become, but Dan goes on the attack.
