Cathleen Nesbitt

British actress Cathleen Nesbitt made a name for herself on the big screen. In her early acting career, Nesbitt appeared in such films as "Pygmalion" (1938) with Leslie Howard, "Black Widow" (1954) with Ginger Rogers and the Marlon Brando dramatic adaptation "Desiree" (1954). She also appeared in "Three Coins in the Fountain" (1954), the Cary Grant romance "An Affair to Remember" (1957) and "Separate Tables" (1958) with Rita Hayworth. She kept working in film throughout the sixties and the seventies, starring in the Hayley Mills comedic adaptation "The Parent Trap" (1961), "Promise Her Anything" (1966) and the dramatic adaptation "Staircase" (1969) with Richard Burton. She also appeared in the Richard Burton action flick "Villain" (1971). She also worked in television during these years, including a part on "The Farmer's Daughter" (ABC, 1963-66). In the latter part of her career, she tackled roles in the action movie "The French Connection II" (1975) with Gene Hackman, the Karen Black thrilling mystery "Family Plot" (1976) and "Full Circle" (1977). She also appeared in the dramatic biopic "Julia" (1977) with Jane Fonda. Additionally, she appeared on the television special "Abide With Me" (PBS, 1977-78). She also worked in television during these years, including a part on "Notorious Woman" (PBS, 1975-76). Nesbitt last appeared in "Night Cries" (ABC, 1977-78). Nesbitt passed away in August 1982 at the age of 94.
