Journalist Robert Leckie enlists in the Marine Corps following the attack on Pearl Harbour; Sgt John Basilone prepares to leave for the war; the Marines invade the island of Guadalcanal.

Basilone arrives with the 7th Marines to reinforce the men defending the airstrip on Guadalcanal; the Japanese bombard their position and Basilone suffers a loss; Sledge secures permission to enlist.

Exhausted from their months on Guadalcanal, thousands of soldiers land in Melbourne; Leckie gets close to an Australian woman and her family; Basilone is told to return home to sell war bonds.

Lisbon accepts Jane's surprise marriage proposal, but a killer's quest for revenge may cost them the happy ending they've worked so hard to achieve.

Patrick Jane may be reinstated with the CBI, but Lisbon is on suspension and Cho, Rigsby and van Pelt have been reassigned. Now Jane must use his talents to get the old team back together, and does so by pitting them against his new team to be first to solve the murder of a fitness trainer.

Jane agrees to once again pretend to be a renowned psychic and be used as bait in an attempt to lure out a serial killer and give the FBI a chance to apprehend him.
