Barry's decision to remain in Abbudin garners a mixed response. The emergence of new evidence connected to the attempted murder of Jamal causes tension between the brothers.

Nerves fray as the 20th anniversary of the chemical attack ordered by Barry's father nears. Jamal has trouble regaining his confidence in the bedroom.

When his older brother, Jamal - the newly appointed president of Abbudin - is incapacitated, Barry must put his return plans on hold. Terrorists kidnap his nephew's new bride.

Jamal must decide whether or not to have Barry executed for leading the failed coup. Molly fights, against the clock, to secure Barry's freedom, while Ihab and Samira are driven by desperation.

Barry becomes used to his new identity and participates in the life of the village. Amira arranges for Jamal to meet a war hero, and Ihab and Samira's plans to flee are thwarted.

As thousands of citizens are gathering to protest in the plaza, Jamal prepares to challenge them. With an idea of avoiding violent clashes, Barry races to organise a summit.
