Yuqi Zhang

The adorable Kitty Zhang ranks among China's most promising young actresses. As a teen, she honed her craft at a Shanghai drama school, and landed her first (uncredited) feature film role in the 2007 romance "The Longest Night in Shanghai." Her appearance in a commercial for Kentucky Fried Chicken caught the eye of actor-director Stephen Chow, who cast her as a schoolteacher in his oddball family fantasy, "CJ7." Zhang picked up a nod for Best New Performer from the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2008 for her portrayal of a headstrong businesswoman in the comic quilt "All About Women." In 2009, she played a bumpkin with hip-hop aspirations in the outlandish Stephen Chow-penned comedy "Jump." She collaborated with Chow again in 2010, reprising her role as educator Miss Yuen for the animated feature "CJ7: The Cartoon." Venturing into the horror genre, "Curse of the Deserted" was Zhang's next, followed by the uproarious action-comedy, "The Butcher, the Chef and the Swordsman." Zhang played a college student scoping out a haunted house in the former, and a woman sought by rivals in the latter. In 2011, she starred in Quan'an Wang's adaptation of the Chinese literary classic "White Deer Plain."
