Brazil From Above

This journey begins in the city of Belo Horizonte and another city hosting the World Cup this year. There is a fine mixture of old and new buildings, as well as an area of the city known as Pampulha which boasts a wealth of early 1960’s architecture. From there we head south and a very picturesque sculpture gallery built around a landscape garden of lakes and hills. Further south are a whole series of old colonial mining towns now fully protected including a steam train in one of them, which takes passengers on a scenic tour of the surrounding area. Our final stop is one of the largest churches in the world, which can hold a staggering 45,000 worshippers – The Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida.
