Joey Tribbiani moves to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a big Hollywood star with the help of his new agent and the support of his sister and his nephew.

Joey's nephew Michael moves in to seek independence from his mother, so Joey decides to take him out and show him how to meet women.

When he has trouble making new friends in Hollywood, Gina suggests Joey throw a party; Michael invites a competitive old friend to the bash and is surprised when the invitation is accepted.

When Joey has trouble meeting women in Los Angeles, he decides to join Michael's book club; Gina learns an old schoolmate is now a celebrity hairstylist and decides she deserves the glamorous life too.

Joey auditions for several plays to get a job but, to his disappointment, only gets the understudy roles.

Joey's friend-turned rival, Brian Michael David Scott, makes a fool out of him at auditions by exploiting his gullible side.
