Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette and Louis embrace modern rule, but enemies lurk everywhere, even within the halls of Versailles.

Marie Antoinette's dangerous sexual affair with Fersen reignites when they star together in "The Marriage of Figaro" but the production turns out to be a plot to challenge Louis' authority.

Pregnant again, Marie Antoinette wants to protect her future, but Louis questions the child's paternity. For her part, Jeanne calls on a man from her past to help her steal the necklace, but old grudges resurface.

Louis demands that Marie Antoinette change her portrait, which sparks widespread outrage, but he comes to realise the many sacrifices his wife had made.

When Marie Antoinette gets implicated in the theft of the diamond necklace, she is determined to prove her innocence and punish those responsible; Marie Antoinette has Rohan publicly arrested and thrown in the Bastille.

The royal couple hope that Rohan's indictment will help contain the aristocracy's desire for rebellion; at the end of a turbulent trial, Rohan is exonerated, but a false testimony tarnishes Marie Antoinette's reputation.
