Following her father's removal from the office of town sheriff, high-school student Veronica Mars finds herself ostracised by her peers. She comes to the aid of Wallace, a new arrival to the school who is fast becoming a victim of bullying.

Wallace and Veronica help a classmate in his search for his father. Veronica's romantic interests become tangled as Duncan struggles to come to terms with the death of his sister.

Veronica takes on a group of computer hackers, the Silicon Mafia, to help Georgia. She introduces Troy to Keith, and Duncan makes a memorial video in preparation for the anniversary of Lilly's death.
